2021 Archer & Byrd - Library Reserve
The name honors Archer Taylor & Hasseltine Byrd—legendary scholars and conservationists of Mt. Veeder itself. The wine emanates from our Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard which is a non-hedged, dry-farmed, organic vineyard rooted in blue shale—blue fruit, black olive, and violet flavors with long and precise finish; chiseled.

Inspiration
Mt. Veeder is where Pilcrow began with the 2014 vintage. Our obsession with the old wines of Bob Travers is as strong today as it was back then.
Bob Travers was the second coming of a Mt. Veeder champion (John Hein being the first in 1880) and the wines that he made from this place could—and should—inspire anyone to explore this mountain and this era. He eschewed new oak, was a proper Luddite, and made wines that favored savory over sweet.
About This Wine
95+ Archer & Byrd Cabernet Sauvignon
“Notes of black cherries, fresh blueberries, and blackcurrant pastilles prance from the glass, followed by showy nuances of menthol, iris bulb, fragrant soil, and incense. … refreshing and tight-knit, delivering firm, grainy tannins and a lively backbone … finishing with a quiet intensity.”
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW - The Wine Independent
