Inspiration
Lee Stewart just may be the most important Napa Valley winemaker you’ve never heard of. He championed Howell Mountain from his perch at the original Chateau Souverain.
J. Leland "Lee" Stewart picked his first crop from his Howell Mountain vineyard in 1944. In the years that followed, Stewart used innovation, meticulous standards and his natural gift for winemaking to entrench the valley’s potential and teach the “next gen” of vintners including Winiarski, Grgich, and Mondavi.
About This Wine
97+ 2021 Granite Lake Cabernet Sauvignon
“… a firework display of ripe blackberries, mulberries, and warm cassis opening out to an undercurrent of tapenade, cardamom, and garrigue plus a waft of star anise. The medium-bodied palate is … supported by very firm yet ripe tannins and beautiful tension … This is like sipping a beautiful mountainside forest.”
